2012 CJAA Convention

Luke Air Force Base (KLUF), Glendale, AZ
March 15 – 18, 2012

The largest gathering of Classic Jet owners and operators, the annual 2012 CJAA Convention, will take place at Luke Air Force Base between March 15 and 18, 2012.

Like all other conventions, this one will be filled with instructional seminars, safety and regulatory updates, knowledgeable guest speakers, tours of military big iron, and best of all, opportunities to associate with friends at a fun, relaxed and informative venue.

Convention Highlights

  • Two full days of briefings, presentations and open forum discussions on topics relevant to Classic Jet owners and operators.
  • Overview of Luke activity (F-16 fighter training and maintenance), mission and activities by base personnel.
  • Annual banquet Saturday evening recognizing key members and contributors of the organization.
  • Annual business meeting to conduct the affairs of CJAA and to elect two directors and two alternates for the 2012-2014 term.
  • Distinguished guest speakers, experts in their field, presenting at dinners and the Saturday Banquet.
  • Optional High Altitude Chamber Training on Thu, Mar 15, 2012 at ASU. CJAA conducted chamber training during the 2006 convention and it was well received. Click here for more details.

Convention Logistics

  • Location: Luke AFB is located 20 miles northwest of Phoenix, AZ. Convention attendees on commercial flights will want to fly into Phoenix (KPHX). Members will need to rent cars as CJAA will not be able to offer ground transportation.
  • Dates: Thursday, March 15 through Sunday, March 18. Most of the activity will be Friday and Saturday. Thursday will be for arrivals and some informal meetings. Sunday is departure day.
  • Jets: Luke's base commander will be welcoming our classic jets to his base. For more information and requirements, contact Karl Kunze directly at Karl.Kunze@classicjets.org or 585/704-2269.
  • Private Aircraft: Nearby GA fields include Glendale (KGEU), Deer Valley (KDVT) and Goodyear (KGYR). Williams-Gateway (KIWA) is nearest the altitude chamber.
  • Costs: The cost, including three nights lodging and all meals, is only $450 per member ($700 if accompanied by spouse.) It doesn't matter if you're a full or associate member. Every CJAA member is welcome and encouraged to attend!
